2001 Grand Am Transmission Cooling Line Seals

I am in the process of replacing the transmission cooling lines on my G/A. Is there a way to remove the rubber seals from the transmission housing where the two lines attach to it without using the special tool (J-41239-B)? I tried removing the seals by hand but am unable to and I believe I have damaged the original seals enough that there is no turning back now. Is there any way of doing this without the tool or is there some kind of work around? Help!

Without the recommended seal puller/installer I think you are going to need a some other type of seal puller, new seals, and tap them in with a block. I'm not sure what you tried so far, but maybe you could carefully work the old seals out with a screwdriver and pliers, but you risk gouging the seal bore.

Thanks for the quick reply. I began to use a small screwdriver but the seal was not budging at all and I did not want to scratch the seal bore so I stopped. These seals are really stuck to the transmission housing. I installed the lines in hopes that they would not leak and sure enough they do. Can I use some kind of high-temp sealant or am I stuck and have to take it to a garage that has the tool?
