Sup guys,
I got my Tbelt finished and running great, but I got another problem im sure is not the tbelt.
The car runs great, same power, no CELs, and good acceleration. Upon starting the car the rpms go up to about 1500 and stay there for a good 5-8 seconds then drop down to the normal 800 or so. ( it is a stick shift,) When driving, and I throw the car in neutral the rmps surge to 3k-4k and drop to 2k then go up and down, sometimes it will go up to 4k and stay there.
This sounds to me like a vacuum leak, I checked the throttle cables and gas pedal, they look fine, the TB closes completely upon letting off the gas. Butterfly valve in the TB is clean, no excess carbon deposits or the such.
Anyone had a similar issue? I am leaning towards it being the TPS, or a vac leak. Gonna pick up some starting fluid tommorow and spray the vac hoses with it and see if I can pin point it. PCV valve was replaced 24k miles ago when I did the tune up and clutch. Breather hose at the back of the valve cover is good, and PCV hose looks fine upon visual inspection.
