2001 Accord Oil Question

Anyone have a good oil recomendation for my 2001 Accord, 2.3L VTEC? I'm partial to Synthetics becuase of the hot climate of South Texas. But it's a daily driver. Nothing harsh or high performance.

I've heard Japanese cars respond better to Castrol, but no proof of that. Currently using Valvoline with average, nothing to report results. Any ideas?

1. OCI's around 5000 miles (5-6 months)
2. 122,000 miles - no leaks or burn issues
3. Really hot climate (over 90F daily)

I always ran 5-20 in mine, but in that heat I'd probably run 5-30. With no changes that engine went from 5-30 to 5-20 in 99 or 00 as the recommendation from Honda. Nothing really special for those F series, they seem to do well on anything.

I've run everything from Mobil 1 0W-20 to Motorcraft blend 5W-20 to Royal Purple 5w30 in ours. Runs great on everything.

The new Mobil 1 Extended Performance (SN) 5w20 runs extremely well in my Civic. Any syn 5w20 or 5w30 will be fine. The Valvoline is a great oil. There are no bad answers on this as long as you stay within these grades and major brands. You will just have to shop around, if you want to change. I suggest Mobil 1 Extended Performance, PP, Edge (5w30). See what you like the best.

I ran 5w20,5w30 and 10w30 in my 2001 Accord without a problem.
If I had to go out and buy oil for it (didn't have a stash), I'd probably run Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w20 or 5w30 since it's a good deal on a good full synthetic.

Its a Honda don't sweat it, just run whatever weight they call for that you can get on sale. Its already done 122k miles.

I'd run a 5w30 or a 10w30 since you live in a hot climate. Im running Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 in my Honda Accord and I really like it. My car before I switched to Mobil 1 always ran on Quaker State 5w30 and performed well. Try it out.
