L29's have a 4X crank sensor tone wheel....That's pretty low resolution for a accurate misfire monitor & should be taken with a grain of salt.

I can attest to this as my L31 has the same 4x ring and I will occasionally get random misfire counts. I have a aftermarket Accel billet aluminum distributor from back in the day and I replaced the poppet injector assembly with the revised Multec 2 assembly.

Usually no misfires, occasionally and randomly, a misfire. No codes set, just watching it on a scanner. I don't lose sleep over it.

Yes it has random miss fires here and there on differnet cylinders but it also does not have a code

The Cam Crank Correlation relearn is required ANYTIME the distributer is removed! Setting the offset is not enough at times!

The correlation should be done after the distributor offset is within +/-10°.

Yup did the Cam Crank Correlation relearn But thank you for the info. You Guys are great

You do not notice the random miss fires which are very little only if you are watching the snapon scanner

Just about any Snap-on scan tool will do. But I do have a original Hewlett Packard Tech 2 that I bought in 1999 through the Cadillac dealer I worked for.

Okay Just made a 1,600 mile round trip to South Dakota Truck ran great. No miss fires no codes until we got 50 mile from home O2 censor but is cleared and did not come back yet

Just because the parts are new doesn't mean they cannot be defective, I've had had two 'new' ACD plugs replaced after two separate tune ups.
