Recently did an o/c on the vehicle in the title.Oil capacity is listed as 3.8 qts without filter changr,4 qts w/filter change(tiny filter).I put the car up on ramps drained the oil and changed the filter.I used a havoline filter to replace the STP on there.Added 3 qts of ACE hardware 5W30 and a 12oz bottle of old stock WYNN's Friction Proofing.Cranked the car and pulled it off the ramps and onto level ground.Checked the oil and it showed full!!

I have since driven it for 2 days and checked the oil each day.The oil is a nice straw color, not dirty. The car is quiet, running smoother than after the last o/c.So I'm happy but a bit puzzled since the oil fill is 20 oz short of full ,but shows full on the stick.Any ideas?

I'm also happy that the o/c cost me $11.50.I'm a cheap bastid, oops I mean frugal.

Sounds good. I wouldnt worry about only putting in about 3.5 qts. Just go by the dipstick. The additive is probably a waste. But if it was lying around then why not. My gf had a Sephia. was an okay car for her. Not fantastic and not crummy. Good luck with it.

I had an 83 Mazda GLC back in 1998. small sump and cheap filter. Got away with $20 Synthetic oil changes. Would have been 9 bucks Max with conventional.

got to love saving money

I'm pretty sure all the old oil drained out,I waited until there was no longer even a drip coming out..Judging from the clear straw color of the new fill I believe so.

The WYNN's was old stock I had picked up at a pawn shop for 2.50$ a few years ago that I recently rediscovered in a box. From some of the posts here the old stock was mainly esters and zinc.So I figured it would do some cleaning(the underside of the filler cap and splash guard in the filler hole has some crud there) and add a bit more protection. The car runs good but it is my step daughters with a spotty maintenance record as far as I can tell.It has 140,000 miles and does not smoke, last o/c I had to add a qt in approximately 4-5k and gets around 30 mpg and has cold a/c.That last is important to a big guy in Georgia heat and humidity.

I hear that that gen Kia starts to have problems around this mileage,so I figure a mild cleaning won't hurt anything.

Just an update.
At 3700 miles into my projected 5k o/c interval.I checked the oil and was a quart low,the oil was a medium brown color.
I added a qt of the Ace 5w30 to make up the deficit.I now plan to extend the o/c out to 6k or 6.5k since the oil has 25% fresh oil in it.
I think the Ace oil is a perfectly good oil,at this point.
