Unless this oil has silicon in from the start I'd say that's pretty high. Otherwise it looks OK to me. Check out the air filter.

T-Keith. Thanks for the reply...Air filter was brand new ~6K miles ago (Napa Gold Air Filter).

Two other things of northwothyness that I just thought of:
1.) Chevron Techron was used in the fuel tank at the beginning of this oil change.
2.) Intake gaskets were done ~6K miles ago (oil leak).

Yes, but I'm afraid most aren't qualified to diagnose that. I'd skip the ARX, but I'm sure some would disagree. The 3800 is far from a sludge engine and not at all hard on oil. I use LC in mine and even with an antifreeze contamination it still produced good results. I've never seen a 3800 with sludge or anything close, even abused cars.

Intake replacement should explain the silicon numbers. Make sure to change your coolant regularly to avoid more intake problems. I'd also recommend switching to a non-DEXCOOl equivelent, like prestone's EL fluid.

hi

thats just dex without the name.

if you want to get away from 2-EHA, go G-05.

Actually there are chemical differences as well, mainly no phospates and no organic acids. From my understanding these are the cause of intake failures like mine.

I was pretty much in the same boat with 3800 97,000 mile Buick Lesabre. I decided; what could it hurt? It supposibly conditons the seals, cleans and whatever else is claimed. So, I went ahead and used ARX. I'm in the rinse cycle now. I hope ARX is not hurting more than helping.
