Im not a big fan of mobil 1 in the chevy and the escalade, It started leaks on the impala, So i changed it and went back conventional. I did not want to play the game of changing seals and gaskets =)



Maxlife is made by valvoline. It helps prevent leaks. Its made for this type of thing

Dont run lucas its just an oil thickener. Unless your burning a lot of oil leave it on the shelf.

It sounds like you had good results with MMO. I would do it again during the winter just for the cleaning....

Maxlife made my suburban run a bit quieter. It still has the cold start piston slap for about 40 seconds, but after is very quiet. I would try the Maxlife or even an HDEO to see if it helps.

I would NOT play with that Lucas stuff. I fell into that trap in the past and it's garbage IMO.

I used to remember Prolong being talked about years ago. We tried it once in a race motorcycle for a short time. The only thing I can tell you is it left a weird film on the parts. When we tried to just hone a cylinder wall to prep it for rebuild, it acted different than normal. I could not say if it was for better or worse this film, but it definitely stuck to the metals.

Ok update, I checked exhaust manifold gaskets, NO leaks. I will stay away from the lucas stuff. and Just keep doing my Intervals of 3000 miles since oil is cheaper than a new engine. What do you guys think of Pennzoil conventional Vs. Valvoline conventional im currently using???

You could always try something with better cold performance like Amsoil AZO 0w30 or Mobil 1 0w30 and see if that changes anything..... food for thought.

Don't go tearing into anything for a cold tick, its probably a sticky lifter.
I am with Overkill, try a better oil. Personally i would try Pennzoil Ultra 5w30, its a proven oil with great cleaning abilities.
