I am curious has anyone done an oil test on Quicksilver 20-50 sold at Walmart. I have been using it in my 2014 Harley Limited. The bike runs run's smooth with no unusual noise. Apparently it meet's the standard for Harley oil.

The only standard Harley recommend's for Harley's, is Harley's oil, or diesel oil. They do not recommend and brand of oil but theirs.,,
It's a Mercury Marine product. I'm gonna go out on a short limb and say it's probably good stuff. Having said that you're likely gonna get a barrage of "it's stupid to use anything other than Shell Rotella 15w40 cause I use it in my highly modified Harley that produces over 100hp". As if that's a lot.

Please be the first to run a used oil analysis on this oil in a Harley!
There is a used oil analysis or VOA someplace on this forum or it could have been a bike forum that I saw posted. Been curious about this oil since it hit the market, gosh, 2 years ago now?
What I remember is the VOA or used oil analysis, was just that, nothing bad, nothing one would consider outstanding, but then again, what difference, you really need a used oil analysis.
I have always used Quicksilver products oil, lubes etc in my Mercury Marine engines and have been forever curious about the motorcycle oil product now.
HD only recommends a CH4+ or later oil in their bikes, only company that I know that makes that is Mystik and Amsoil.
I have a 14 Road King and using a Mystik 15/50 CJ4 oil right now. With that said, for you I wouldnt be concerned as many use motorcycle oils in their Harleys of course and none carry the CH4 rating. So dont sweat it. *L*
Anyway. thanks for the post. Im glad you didnt notice any additional clatter from the top end, as many do with synthetics which to me is a good sign.

I ran it once in my air/oil cooled Triumph. Worked well for a 4k mile run.

I just compared the Syn Quicksilver with the Semi Syn Mystik, (keep in mind 2 different labs)
The numbers are pretty close, except the Mystic has way more Mag (maybe why the cj4 rating?) might be right its Citgo I see the VOA I did was done around the same time.

I did notice the viscosity was a little bit on the lighter side of 50 with the Quicksilver at the time, it bothered me at first as HD oil is in the 19+ range. Mystik (according to Blackstone) is not that much more heavy. Anyway, Im over it, splitting hairs and who is to say what is better when it comes to wear with most oils going to lighter rather then more heavy.
Bottom line, they are 50 weight oils.
