On the conventional side, Pennzoil Air Cooled (found at most AAP's), or Super Tech Univeral 2-Cycle Oil (the one in the Clear bottle with the measuring spout), available at WM.
I don't know what kind of saw you have, but a lot of folks report great results with Stihl HP Ultra synthetic 2-cycle oil, available at most Stihl dealers.
I've had good results with the Weedeater Synthetic oil, bought at WM. (Made by Husqvarna Outdoor Products)

How about Quicksilver at walmart .I'm not sure about the ratio for small engines.
For over 30 years, I have used Lawn Boy 2-cycle oil in all of my equipment and it has run fine. My 2-cycle lawn mower is approching 27 years old on this oil, my chain saw 15 years and it got used hard.
There seems to he two types.
Quicksilver, Mercruy Marine's brand, is designed for water cooled engines.
I would suggest a name brand oil that specifys 'air cooled' or 'chain saw' use.

Got you beat Boomer. My Lawn Boy mower is 44 years old and my Lawn Boy edger is 43 years old. Both run on the Lawn Boy 2-cycle oil mixed at 32:1 as recommended.
I use the Stihl synthetic in my Stihl chainsaw, trimmer, and blower mixed at 50:1 per Stihl recommendation.

Echo Power Blend is another good oil that is easy to find.
I bought a case of Echo at a flea market about 10 years ago and am still using it. All my 2-cycle equipment is Stihl and it all runs great on it. Choke it, prime it, pull twice, unchoke,and pull one more time to start.
I've gotten good results with Valvoline 2-stroke. Only place I've found it is in AAP in quart bottles.
Opti 2 is a 2 stroke oil sold at commercial small engine repair shops it is a synthetic smokeless oil. This oil is designed to be used in any engine regardless of the mix ratio. One gas can runs all your 2 cycle power. I really like it and so do the fleet's that I sell it to. It comes is bottles and blister packs to match the size of fuel container you have. It has fuel stabilizers in it also. Not expensive even for the home owner. Opti 2 is common place in the professional lawn care industry.
I use both Toro and Stihl 2 cycle oil for air cooled engines in my outdoor power equipment. I recently picked up some Stihl HP Ultra synthetic 2 cycle oil that I hope to try soon. All my equipment uses 50:1 gas/oil mix.
sthil ultra is great but very expencive-its desighned for their 4 mix engines. i used quicksilver for 10+ years with no prob in all my comm lawn service equiptment. lawnboy actually recommends tcw3 for their engines

I read the product description for Stihl HP Ultra on the Stihl website and decided to give it a try. I like the idea of ultra clean burning. Less fouling so engines hold up better for longer. Still, I have no complaints with the red bottle mineral based Stihl 2 cycle oil.
Pennzoil aircooled in my Poulan'wildthing' saw @40:1. It puts a soft black oily residue on the muffler.This residue is easily wiped off.Using amsoil saber@64:1 in a ryobi trimmer.It starts very easy and has much more power than it did with other oil brands.The wildthing saw was purchased online as a "recon" saw.It wasn't easy to start and I purchased the carb. adjust tool online.Tuning the carb helped with starting and full power cutting however it wasn't at it's peak until I tried a CJ8 spark plug.the cj8 made the saw much easier to start and produce more power.Think I'll keep the pennz. and CJ8 FOR NOW.
