2 quart chevy filter question

Purolator seems to make good stuff. Be warned, the oil filter will probably become the lowest hanging object on your truck, and therefore be more prone to damage.

That's a great price. You'll pay around $10 each at NAPA for a Wix equivalent. They are 8.5" long. Although they are long ...I think (not totally sure) that your pan is deeper than that. I seemed to remember that I used these on my 75 C20 350 and don't recall any "fears" ..but then again I was only 21 ..so what did I know back then

They come to about the bottom of the pan on a SBC. I have 3 chevy trucks and its tempting to buy some. I usually use the AC Delco Duraguard but they are 4 bucks now. Just sceptical about bogus filters on the web.

Guy just got puralator catalog and crossed the thread and gasket size to find one that fits a SBC. The down side is not all filters have the same pressure drop or bypass poundage. So even if it fits, it may not be good for your motor.

I believe that filter does not have an ADBV. I've seen a Fram version of it and it did not. If it doesn't have one I wouldn't buy it. You'd better have a lot of room in there too.

I"m still debating on buying a case or not. With my 5 quarts in the pan, plus my Frantz, then a 1 1/2 quart filter, my Amsoil is going to go fast! LOL

As far as "fitment" goes, they are listed for my exact years of trucks, so there should not be any problem on pressures. I've usually only seen the super long ones on the older Chevy dump trucks though.

As far as the ADBV goes, the filter mounts vertically so its not needed anyway. The later V8s mount differently so I hear and need the ADBV.

None of the Chevs should have a bypass valve at all ..at least those in the 13/16 thread intended for Chev V's. The bypass should be in the block.

I used these on my 4.0 in a dual remote setup. I was clueless about the internals of the filter when I ordered the Chevy size mount. Ignorance is bliss.

This is a common misconception. True the oil will likely not drain out of the filter, but it will drain out of the upper oiling passages, which to some extent has the same result. GM recommends the ADBV on all newer trucks even with vertical filters.
