ok i used normal Castrol GTX 5w30 winter and 10-30 summer since my 96 cavalier was new. change it ever 3k miles. recently i put in castrol gxe high mileage because my car is always burning oil. it cost me about $12.00 or so.(5qt jug) Then another day i noticed that Valvoline maxlife syn blend was 11.00 something. Im like WAW. A synthetic blend is cheaper then a dino??

What do you guys thing? will it be better to run with the Maxlife? i heard alot of good things on maxlife.

In the retail market, oil costs what it costs. Capitalism, free market, etc.

Keep your eyes open for more of those FAR O'Reilly deals!

As I understand it, the Maxlife is first now being marketed as a syn blend. In fact, some the weights say syn blend and some don't. But they all are. Could the Castrol high mileage also be a blend?

Ignore the word "blend".

Motorcraft calls their regular oil blend.

Syntec Blend is a good high-performance product, as good as some Synthetic oils.

Maxlife now says blend.

GTX HM is "blended" out of as good or better basestock than any oil, some consider it better than Maxlife.

Price vs actual performance is the only way to judge an oil.
