With winter here and the snow starting thought it would be a good time to change out at least 2 of the Goodyear Viva 2's purchased at Walmart in 08 with 66484. The car now has 114500 now so three of them had 48k and other had only 25k put on at 89204 in 2011.. had a busted belt but that was the same time the spring may of broke so don't think it was the tires doing. Anyways 2 of the tires look similar to the picture below, tread is worn off one both outer edges. Another has at least 10-15k left easy and the one from 2011 another 20k easy. Tires were ran at 32-35psi as recommended by Ford. After that on was replaced in 2011 rotations were impossible but before that they were rotated regularly.

No complains on the Viva's despite what some may say with Walmart etc. Good traction up to the end. They were dry rotted a bit.. but the car also set in the barn with a dirt floor for extended periods of time. They were a 65k tire but almost 15k less with no rotations I think they did well. Despite the good service went to Discount Tire this time. Got tired of dealing with Walmart. Customer service defiantly a plus with discount.. very attentive with a handshake. No more Walmart for tires!

Went with Falken Sincera SN-828 also a 65k tire. Think they were cheaper on the mounting and they offer free replacement vs the walmarts prorated warranty. They wouldn't put them on the front so had to do that myself.. which I was expecting anyways and I could care less of the comments that may receive.

I hope I dont read a post about you doing a 360 on the highway :|
your life is worth more than the cost of 2 tires.

Not familiar with that model of falken(good thing imo.. the ones I'm familiar with are mostly junk)

Please report back in 10,000 miles or so on how happy you are with them.

Please DO NOT put the new tires on the front!!! You will run high risk of spinning out! New tires should NEVER be put on the front of a car!!!

Dangers of putting new tires on front. Driver skill will not necessarily help either:

Quote:
If the pair of tires which begin to hydroplane first is on the front of the vehicle, it is far easier to regain control of the vehicle. First, the driver will feel the skid in the steering when the skid begins. Second, the intuitive action of taking your foot off the accelerator and steering into the direction of the skid will prevent loss of control. When it is the back tires which begin to skid, it is much more difficult to control. The loss of control is much harder to detect because it isn’t felt in the steering wheel and the actions to control are counterintuitive (turning away from the direction of the skid).

Haven't did a 360 yet.. but again I'm one of these drivers that actually drive for the conditions. IE not going into corners to fast as the video probably shows.

+1. I buy most of my tires from their website anyway, but have to go find a tire shop for mounting. I buy my tires in sets so I have nothing else to add besides the thought of putting new tires on the rear make sense. Not only from a safety standpoint but also wear.

Used Discount Tire first down in Austin.. no problems!

Makes me wonder how many on here have actually did 360, 180 or 90's? I know there's alot of arm chair jockey's on this site and seems to be more everyday. Personally I have did 2 360's and had new tires on all 4 corners on both occasion. Driving to fast for the conditions yup, I was 16 at the time. Now I have did some knarly fish tailing with RWD's on purpose but was able to recover those.

I've never done a 360 that wasn't done on purpose. Then again I live in an area where snow is something you only hear about on the news and forums.

On a rear wheel drive vehicle, I'm still putting the best/newest tires on the front axle, and I don't care who wants to argue whatever point.

On a rear wheel drive vehicle, if the back end breaks loose, I can take care of it.

We just got one in my town. I've been looking at prices on their website and the prices aren't as low as people's raving on here led me to believe.

But, can they match sales and rebates on top of that? That's how I get the best prices by buying online, and I doubt they can go that far.

DTD and DT stores, and many websites have very similar tire prices after shipping. Even if DT stores match the online prices that's only a small savings. The sales and rebates stacked are where the big savings come in when you buy online.

For example, take the Goodyear Assurance Comfortread for my Sonata.

DT store: $127 each = $508 + installation
Discount Tire Direct: $124 - $40 online sale - $80 = $376 + installation

I find it a little hard to believe that DT stores could come down from $508 to $376 to match the best price I can get online.

I'd like to see some examples, please.

I can see them matching the $40 online DTD sale.

In this case, I'll admit I was mistaken. The GY rebate is being offered online and in-store, so you could get a similar price. But I don't think that's always the case.

Well it shouldn't be that big of an issue considering tht DT and DTD is the same company.

Seems that the best example you can get is if you just call them.
