Is there any significant difference between using a quality TCW-3 2-cycle oil and Lucas UCL? Has anyone done any tests comparing the two?

Been thinking about it. Currently using the MMO/LUCL mix, but Wal-Mart's TCW-3 is $8.78 a gallon (no sales tax

) right now, so I might give it a go...

having owned 2 wankels I used put in 10 to 14 oz per fill of 16 gal/18 gal tank I think
I would lose power if I went above 10 oz and smoke like a mof#
also if let the car sit the injectors would clog a little
plugs came out clean after 10k miles, those wankels would eat the plugs
hmm, I have all this synthetic 2 C
I will put 3 oz in my wifeys accord come back zee results
I am excited

I've been running it for a while now. I honestly believe the car does seem to run a little better. The mpg is questionable. It may have increased a 1/2 mpg.

DmanWho said "but Wal-Mart's TCW-3 is $8.78 a gallon".

Can you give us the specific brand name of this product? I don't recall seeing a Wallyworld brand TCW-3 oil in my store. Thanks!

I tried a lot of different ones. I don't like to pay premium. best I found was the penzoil semi syn or full syn. now they have the long life version. they even have a 2.5 gal container
amsoil also makes a full syn and if u live in wi u can get it on sale at the farm/fleet stores

I don't think doubling the dose [or even quadrupling it] would coat any parts. They are washed by gasoline and nothing is going to stick no matter what.
Use the recommended amount - more won't give you a head start or help.

I use Amsoil HP injector oil 2-stroke oil in all my diesel engines for added lubrication the Bosch VP-44 is totally fuel lubricated. about 1 quart per 30 gallons of diesel

Not even the tank?

That's actually a fairly strong dose for a 4 stroke. Any notes? MPG? Less Wear? Exhaust aroma? I guess when diesel is over $4 gallon, $5.60 for a quart of ashless oil isn't so bad. Any reason for HP Injector over Saber or the others?

1 qt is nothing, when I had a stockpile of 2 stroke given to me I would run a gallon a tank (35 gal). The cummins never ran so quiet. I've been running a qt of ND 10wt oil in the past couple months. Its actually a little cheaper than 2 stroke. I only run it for lube purposes with the dry ulsd.

I got 25.2 mpg in the last 2 tanks of the CRV w/2-Cycle additive. 4WD Automatic. That's darn good.

I'm fixing to try it in my Tundra. I've been getting about 19.5 MPG in it which I'm happy with, but interested to see if 500:1 2-cycle oil improves it any. I'm very curious...

thanks,
ben

Here is some of of my math...

The 2C oil I use adds under $.02c cost to a gallon of gas. If I get an extra 2 miles over 10 gallons of gas, I break even. If you are at 20 mpg and paying $4 a gallon, you need only 1 extra mile out of 10 gallons of gas to break-even. Seems quite attainable. At +1mpg you are getting a 10:1 cost payback before any of the additive benefits.

Curious, what would TC3 (or MMO, UCL, etc) do to a cat over time? I've got a Toyota PU w/100K and NC has been doing computer emissions testing for several years at the annual inspections. So far, no problems. If using the TC3 starts causing cat failure, will it show up during these tests? Secondly, if its been used regularly (every second or third tank)and then stopped for a prolonged time, will it "burn off" or clear up in the cat?
