I just picked up a hitachi leaf blower i ordered. Does anyone use a break in regimen with small 2 cycle engines? the manual says you can use oil mixtures from 25-50:1. I was thinking of doing the first tank at 40:1 then 50:1 since my chain saw calls for 50:1 i can use the same fuel mix. Any suggestions?

No break-in required. FWIW I use 40:1 Belray H1-R in all my 2T stuff. I've got a few.

Yes. For the amount of work you're doing, "can gas", while seemingly expensive, is going to save you from a bunch of cussing, time, and frustration.

Stihl MotoMix, TruFuel, etc. Just do it!

I can see buying that and putting it in before storage, i assume its ethanol free?

Yep, no E. High octane with a looong shelf life. Makes a good purge fuel or for those that simply use little 2T mix.

+1 on can gas, and probably more important is initial warm up, sure you can just get on it, but old timers will tell you to give the engine a few rev and idle cycles before putting the balls to the wall. Ever seen someone warm up a two stroke dirt bike?
