Comments:

* Copper/lead content is high and could indicate thrust washer/bearing wear.

* A normalisation factor of 3.001 has been applied to the wear metals during final analysis.

* Viscosity is low and not consistent with advised grade.

* Other results are satisfactory.

* Recommend new oil be sampled at half recommended intervals to assess and monitor condition.

Oil analysis performed by OILCHECK PTY LTD.

Seems like a boatload of iron, lead & copper for just 3332 km on the oil.

Was this your first UOA? A trend would certainly be more useful than a one-shot.

Hi Guys,

Yeah, this is my first UOA, so haven't developed a trend as yet. I don't abuse the clutch at all. Actually, i've been fairly conservative with this bike. I rarely redline it and I haven't been to the racetrack at all (bad crash 18 months ago put a stop to racing), unlike all my other bikes, which copped a lot more race time and abuse.

I've now switched to Penrite HPR 5, so we'll see what the next UOA says.

its just that the lead being more than ZERO is suspect and the copper of 26 is very high for so few kms. iron may or may not be ok but still seems high for that many kms.

however, this IS a '99 bike and as such is 14 years old. the iron could be rust as you are only averaging 2848kms per year on the bike. lower since this last sample was 3332kms on it.

the susvis is low because of 2.2% fuel. ug, that's kinda high for a inline 4.

I don't know too much about this stuff. That's why I post my UOA's and get your opinions. What your saying does make sense though, the bike is 14 years old. Oh and the engine is a v-twin, not an inline 4.

its a v-twin?

i had to google it earlier to see a pic and it didnt look like a vtwin.

looks a lot like my vfr800. but also looked like my old cbr600f2 also.

in the usa we dont get the same models as ya'll do.

in 2000 when i was in AUS and NZ i got to sit on a zook rg500gamma which is totally illegal here in the usa.
