I had a 97 7.3 for years. It was a great truck, sold it with 330k and still running great. Congrats on a beautiful truck

7.3 was a great engine and not super picky. I'd probably run Mobil Delvac 1 5w40 in it, but you can't really go wrong with any of the majors.

Any quality 5w40 will keep it happy. That’s one beautiful truck. Very hard to find in that condition, around here at least.

Seeing those pics ruined my day. These trucks simply do not exist in the rust belt anymore. Not even junkers in the junk yards. That truck is a keeper for sure. What a score!

There are the trucks you fluid film, and just keep rebuilding. Yes they have some issues here and there but are amazing compared to the electronic CAN Bus junk they make today.

Don't forget to add SCA (Supplemental Coolant Additive) to the coolant at specified intervals - it's sacrificial and must be renewed to prevent pinholes from developing in the cylinder bores (cavitation). There are also test kits available to check the SCA level. Refer to your owners manual.

Just be careful to test it occasionally (there are inexpensive test strips to do this) as it is a sacrificial component. Loved my 7.3s (had 3 of them)

I just recently replaced the OEM tires due to dry rot on my 02 F250 with 41K. It never sits outside and is covered up, I will never live long enough to break in the engine. LOL
