I inherited a 1996 Ryobi string trimmer. It was my now deceased BIL's who always took great care of his equipment. It was stored correctly, like he always did. It does have spark so I ordered an EBay carb with fuel lines, air filter, fuel filter, gaskets and a SAP spark plug . I'll change that to an NGK preferably or Champion. The model is 705r. My question is the 1996 fuel oil ratio is 32:1, is a 50:1 with an FD oil ok or even 70:1 with Amsoil Saber. I asked about the Amsoil Saber because my OPE that used 50:1 since the earlier 2000's runs great with it at 70:1. This is for personal use and I don't have a large property to maintain. I enjoy not getting a fixated from the 2 cycle exhaust :). The replacement carb does have high and low speed adjustment screws to compensate for the fuel ratio mixture difference. Thanks

Use the Saber 50:1

I forgot Ryobi made gas stuff
Thanks, I know, I use my battery Ryobi OPE more than my gas Ryobi OPE. My terrain is rough and overall the battery OPE works better with my old body. But the more powerful gas OPE is needed to some degree also.

I know it's not much but it'll supplement the battery ones for heavy duty needs on occasion. I bought a carb kit as mentioned for ~$14. If I can't get it to work I'll give it to my 12 year old grand nephew to work on. He's an absolute whizz with mechanics. He got his grandfathers 4 cycle string trimmer to finally work correctly.
