Brothers truck is having a problem.

1994 Silverado, 350, 4L60E.

It won't go into 3rd gear, and the speedometer stopped working, both at the same time.

Any ideals?

Thanks

Also after fuse check look for a speed sensor in the tail shaft housing. With out a scan tool you are kind of guessing. If wires on speed sensor look ok you can put one in they are cheap and easy. I also would guess the trans maybe in second gear all the time period. That is the default gear when something fails.

And the really "cool" thing is that the insulation around the wiring is made from a corn derivative.

"Hey mice and rats! It's lunchtime!"

While I was out of town in Mississippi a few years ago, the speed sensor failed on a 1999 Dodge Stratus, 2.4L with a 41TE 4-speed auto transmission.

Not sure if it was the lame roads or what, but suddenly after going to see a movie with some friends...the car started but would not get out of what felt like 2nd or 3rd gear, just would have the RPMs rev. I can't remember if the speedometer still worked or not, I think it did.

No. It's back to normal.
