Ok. So i dont like the idea of all that extra stuff in those 'all-in-one' service cans like artic coll etc the leak seal is what i dont like.

So i am going to buy a manifold gauge set, probably either a good robinair set or the cheap harborfreight one and a vacumm pump as well.

First off, my helms manual specs are not up to date on my 94 civic which takes r134a, manual lists r12.

My questions are, am i supposed to use ester oil or PAG oil, like PAG 75, PAG 100, PAG 150??

as for the r134a, I'm thinking about going with Dupont Suva...or any other good straight r134a. I know that chilton/haynes puts out a good general a/c service book, i may have to give it a look.

well i figured it out. I first have to get all the r134a recovered, should be relatively cheap at any shop, hopefully $20 or less.

Then i'm going to vacumm for 30min to hour and test for leaks, if no leaks then i'm going to add some PAG46 and then the appropiate amount of R134a.

Necessary to replace drier and the thermal expansion valve? Might as well when the system is open.
