1994 Dodge Colt cold starting problem

Hi, this is the 2 door coupe, 1994 Dodge Colt 1.5l/ Mitsubishi Mirage/ Eagle Summit. I notice when it is cold, it takes several cranks before it starts. If I have the block heater plugged in, it will start right away. I already replaced the rotor/cap/wires/plugs. I am thinking : do I replace the fuel pump? is this time to look at valve clearance adjustment? or is it something else.

My old 93 Colt would start instantly,no matter the weather.Maybe its injectors leaking down...or a bad check valve in the pump.

always start by checking fuel/air/sparks (3 elementary requirements for IC engine to run).

Fuel--check fuel rail pressure for fuel pump issues, fuel injector leaks, fuel filter clogs, etc.

Air--air filter, MAF/MAP section, etc. If memory serves (last time I service one of these was around 12 yrs ago), they do not run on air-vane type...

spark---as usual: spark plugs, D-cap, ignitor module, spark plug cable, etc.

Then we go from there...
