1994 DODGE DAKOTA V6, AT, PS, AC, 49 STATE. CHANGED TRANS AND DIFF TO SYNTHETIC, WOULD LIKE TO TRY SYNTHETIC PS FLUID IF NOT TOO EXPENSIVE. THOUGHTS? CAN I REMOVE OLD FLUID W/BASTER AND ADD NEW TO AVOID COMPLICATIONS? THANKS.

Yes, you can do the turkey baster method.

1. Remove old with engine off
2. refill
3. start engine
4. steer lock to lock
5. Repeat until desired cleanliness is achieved.

OK, but what synthetic product to buy? Chrysler - Valvoline synthetic ATF4? 1 quart enough w/ the sloppy baster method? Special PS fluid ? would prefer non mail order. Thanks!

Amsoil, Redline, Royalpurple, Pentosin, JoeGibbs, Synlube, BG, Wynns, Gunk, Bardahl, Sweet .... make synthetic power steering fluid. If your local auto parts store doesn't carry it, check the specialty 4x4 or speed shops.

Mopar has numerous TSB's over the years concerning PSF/ATF in their power steering. If yours came with PSF, stick with it.

+1 on Dummy's post . Its important to check if its ATF compatible .If it only calls for power steering fluid stick with only that.
