If I were servicing a Caprice's transmission I'd buy that WIX filter kit without hesitation.
WIX makes good stuff.

How many miles on your '91 Caprice? What color? Wagon or sedan.

My neighbor had a beauty in maroon. In 1997 a carful of distracted teenagers drove into it whilst it was parked.
It got totaled out and the neighbors replaced it with a leftover 1996. 'Twas the final year for that GM A-body car.
It was gold (driftwood in GM color-speak).That one had every option Chevy put into a Caprice Classic except leather.
It started life when it rolled off the Arlington, TX assembly line and currently lives in the mountains of New Jersey with the bears. Kira

If it ain't broke..... Got a Camry (I know, different animal) with over three hundred K on simple fluid drains and fills every 30K.

The Wix filter should be a good choice. It seems to have a rubber or black fiber gasket instead of cork/rubber. A non-cork gasket is one thing I look for in trans filter kits.

For what it's worth, if you find that filter on Rockauto and zoom in on the image, it says "USA."

The car belonged to my late Dad . 1991 model with an honest 46,000 miles . It has been in storage for 15 - 20 years .

My thought is to change the fluid and filter as preventive measure .

While I am thinking about it , I am wondering about changing the rear / drive shaft seal . Again as preventive measure .

Just had to change out the pinion seal in the differential . I suspect it just got hard with age and non-driving ?

The 12 quart case of Havoline Dexron VI , I ordered from Amazon ( on the 7th ) is scheduled to deliver tomorrow .

Any one have an opinion of the Havoline ATF ?

Is the transmission working well? If yes, then really no need to drop the pan and change the filter. Filters on automatic transmissions are pretty much just to keep large debris from being sucked into the pump.

I would just to a suck and fill through the dipstick tube.
