2006 Lincoln Zephyr - ATF

Considering buying this car . It is tied up in the dealer's shop awaiting parts for the air bag recall .

Wondering if the Dex / Merc below would be appropriate for a Lincoln ? I think so .

I have some I bought for a 1991 Chevy Caprice .

it's an asin 6 speed unit, and the engine is the duratech 3.0

my uncle had one of these. single year model.

the following year they changed the name to MKZ, and changed the engine/trans to the 3.5 cyclone, and a 6F variant

if I remember properly(it's been a few years) the trans called for a toyota fluid....

Xt8qaw motorcraft but some say Toyota T-IV is similar.
I would use the factory stuff. Don't use Dex- Mercon. The drain and fill was easy on my Fusion. Others also list Mobil 3309. I went with the the XT 8 QAW when I did it.

I will try , but I do not know much more ( have not purchased it , but may when the dealer finished the air bag recall ) .

Never thought of having to use Toyota ATF ? Considered the possibility of having to use Motorcraft ATF .

If the ATF is for Toyota T-IV, then Mobil 3309 is the same. Specification 3309. Purchase on Amazon for about $70 for a case of 12. May be the same Aisin 6 speed transmission as in my 2007 volvo which specs #3309. Ford owned Volvo in that time frame as evidenced by the FOMOCO stickers on components. A drain/fill is about 3.5 quarts.

not 100% sure about the T-IV, although something is nagging me that that's right, the motorcraft spec to look for to make sure you have the "right stuff" on whatever brand you buy is WSS-M2C924-A

Looking at the back label of the mobil 3309 Bugeye mentioned, it carries the right certification, and is also listed in for the Type T-IV applications like he mentioned.

I had a 2008 Mercury Milan with a 3.0L paired to an Aisin 6 speed auto trans, which I believe is the same as the Lincoln you're asking about. It was a very good powertrain and fairly easy to do ATF changes, either draining from a plug on the trans, or by sucking it out through the fill hole. Either way would remove about 4 quarts, and I used the OEM from the Ford dealer, and Maxlife ATF. Both worked very well, and always added Lubegard Red bottle. The transmission worked well for many, many miles never needing any work. I think the fluid capacity is about 10.5 quarts, so a few drain and fill is needed, and it was so easy, that I did the service every 24,000 miles.
