$199 old Chevy air filter (!)

I had to laugh when I saw this:

$199 for a "rare" air filter that is still available right from AC Delco as well as every other filter manufacturer. This filter fits most V8 Chevys and some other GMs from about 59 up until 67 or so - tons of cars and trucks. There is even a picture of it on their web site - it is the exact same filter without the yellowed paper and shelf wear:

I wonder if someone will be crazy enough to buy this... All I can say is WOW.

I didn't look at the link , but , I have known some Corvette purists that would pay that kind of money if it were a genuine AC Delco filter for a corvette. The newer AC Delco stuff is all contracted out to suppliers now and is not made by AC Delco anymore. This gives the "NOS" AC Delco stuff a slight premium to certain enthusiats also.

Not saying the filter is worth that kind of money, but some people have different priorities when it comes to putting parts on their cars.

You never know. Someone doing a concourse restoration might cough up the money for it. No telling.

I can believe they want $200 for that. Like people have said, for a purist, having an actual filter from the period their car was built is priceless for concourse judging....

$200 is nothing when it comes to NOS parts.

I've heard of people paying close to $1000 for a correct date coded air filter.

You just have to find that one person who needs what you're selling.

I know of an NOS quarter panel for a Superbird that sold for in excess of $7500.
