A great point. It darn well should be easy on oil, it is among the lower specific output motors you'll ever see per cubic inch of displacement.

Note there is not a real TH400 in it either as it is FWD.

It was a TH425 until sometime in the late 70's.

Our experience with the transmission in the Eldorado was less than stellar.... It went through 3x of them.

Pennzoil Conventional has more anti-wear additives and and a lot better formulation of additives and basestocks than anything from the 70's there is no reason to add ZDDP.

ZDP is not the holy grail of AW/EP but it sure IS needed in the package. Many Engine run real rough when they are zdp depleted. Run a moderate zdp oil like rotella triple protect 10w30 and be amazed at how quiet any normally noisy honda or toyota engine runs. Maybe my NVH meter is more sensitive than yours.

The only reason I rec the MC 4T oil is that it readily available and a REAL cost effective alternative for classic cars. You could run 4T in a 500HP DOHC MB AMG motor for 4k miles no problem - NOT SO with 5w30 SN Pennzoil conventional.

I ran Mobil 1 0w40 in a 430 and 401 ci Buick engine without any problems. GC would be also good.
These Buick engines were notorious for low oil pressure due to bad timing covers which housed the oil pump and it maintained good pressure with the 0w40. 1100 ppm zinc IIRC.

Funny part if the motorcycle specific oils do not even hold up in a shared sump bike. Not saying it would not be more than sufficient for a car though, but the transmission in the bike tears them up.

HaHa i missed that i thought it was a coupe de ville sorry!
I Love those cars i had a couple i had a 1975 cadillac sedan de ville with the 500 and it had the air bag option!
yup! air bags in 75
