Yeah I bought a uber rare '68 Cougar GTE with the 427 that had so much cut out, the upper control arm mounting broke through the spring tower and was resting on the exhaust manifold...

I only noticed after a 110 MPH run down I-64 bringing it home...

I fixed it and later sold the car, sure wish I'd kept that one...

My '72 Maverick had grease fittings on the upper control arm bushings.
The biggest PITA on this car was the relay for the gille mounted fog lamps. You were supposed to remove the fender to replace it. I just removed the kick panel and enlarged an existing hole behind it.

My '68 Ranchero always sounded like that. Fords of that era seem particularly prone to squeaking, but in general its usually bushings as others have said.
