The exterior and interior colors of the 300 in this old commercial are identical to the colors of my dad's 66 New Yorker. Even the bucket seats were the same. Our New Yorker was a 4 door hard top, however, and the C pillars were covered in white vinyl.

Another trip down memory lane...

Doubtful. Acres of sheet metal doesn't make for an indestructable car.

It was a really big car that only weighed 4,000 lbs.

Take away the weight of acres of sheet metal just going along for the ride and heavy engine and there isn't much weight budget remaining to build a decent structure.

The curb weight of a 66 New Yorker or 300 was 4,500 lbs. And unlike virtually every other domestically produced vehicle at that time, all Chryslers were unibodies (and had been since the 1960 model year). The structural rigidity of these cars was considerably higher than similar sized body-on-frame platforms made by GM and Ford.

Many demolition derby's won't let those cars in the derby because they are so tough.

My Dad drove one of those when I was a kid (late 70's). I remember several trips to the beach in that old beast. It was horribly awesome.

Or white leather?

That copper New Yorker with white-on-black interior my dad had was simply gorgeous. It was classy looking plain and simple and I remember people commenting on it all the time.

White Leather was an option in Town Cars, and other Lincoln vehicles at least well into the 90's. I do not believe they still offer it.

I agree, it was a really neat interior option!

Ain't that the truth.

Wish they still made them like that today. I have rear ended a bunch of times here is South Florida from people texting and just not paying attention. If I had that I probably would have had no damage.

Down here in Miami you really need a Hummer for all those rear enders.

LOL! Maybe CARS (though the Panther chassis cars are still built like tanks and weigh 4,000+lbs), but the trucks build today are MUCH stronger than they have ever been. The boxed frame on the F-150 is nuts, and the frames on the full-sized trucks in general are just ridiculous. Not to mention the 3/4, 1 ton...etc.

Here's another vote for 'white interiors!

Dad had a 1967 Mustang - Dark Green, White full vinyl top, and white interior....nice looking car!

Much better than the dark grey most cars come with today.....
