19” off road tires?

I’m looking at good off road tires for a potential new to me vehicle. It has 19” wheels, oe fit is 255/50-19.

I might look for 17 or 18” if the rotors fit. But ideally I’d just get BFG AT KO2 or KO3. There really isn’t much of a need for any other discussion.

But I’m seeing that nobody seems to make AT tires in 19”.

Any idea why?

19 is more of a sedan and luxury mid sized/smaller suv size of rim from what I've seen so naturally selection won't really be there. I think you'll just have to ask the dealer to swap smaller rims from a lower trim one and have them give you the price reduction minus labor for changing the rims on both vehicles and they'll jack the price on the other vehicle with the higher trim rims.

That does sound like an odd tire size.

19” tires are usually on cars, like my Genesis. Trucks and SUVs step up to 20”. Which I’ve had no problems with heavy off-roading on 20” wheels.

That is not enough sidewall, and manufacturers know people won't off road with tires like that. So, they are not making them.
What vehicle is that?

As mentioned - I don't think 19 was ever a common OEM size for off-road stuff.

255/50-19 is pretty small? Thats less than 30 inches. You sure you have the right size?

But I would go 235/65 R18. I had that size for winter on a VW Atlas and options are not bad. Still, you won't find KO3 in that size:

As already mentioned, that low-profile sidewall is easy to damage on a rough 4wd trail, so the options for low-profile trail capable tires are limited.

Yep, and many other brands riding on low profile tires. The SUV the wife mainly drives, has 295/35ZR21 front tires, and 315/30ZR22 rears. It seems to almost defy physics on-road, but would be less than useless on a 4wd trail. She's always watching out for potholes.

It's AWD, but definitely not intended for any kind of 4wd trail running.

I’m not expecting a crazy off road monster, but wanted some more aggressive tires for some uses I have in mind.

I think you might still do 17”. Depending on year I would say. Probably some 17” from other MB’s can fit.

If you go to tiresize.com they have a bunch of tools if you put your tire size in - you can click on "alternate wheel size"

Your 255/50-19 is a 29 inch diameter

A common alternate size in 18 inch would be 255/55/18

In 17 inch would be 255/60-17

Either are available in KO2 / KO3 I think?

I'm sure smaller from a different model will fit.

Think these would fit? I'd say they're pricey but they're merc rims in what seem to be decent shape with only a small scuff and a tiny bit of curb rash but two are missing the center cap. I'm not seeing any rash though.
