It depends on the Canadian province. Here in Ontario it's 19. I live right on the border with Detroit, and in the summer the streets are shut down here because *every* 19 and 20 year old from Detroit to Toledo and beyond wants to come here for booze, gambling and legal "escorts".

Seeing this is your 18th birthday, I'll give you the same advice I gave my son (under the threat of death).
If you ever hear the words, "You have the right to remain silent", shut your mouth until you make your phone call to your parental confidant of choice. NOT ONE WORD regardless of how you're intimidated to do otherwise.
Just a public service message to all those who don't understand the term adult for its full extended meaning.

Indeed. Even in a traffic stop dont give out more information than is needed. Don't be a butt, of course, and give him your license, reg, insurance, but beyond that, there is no other information needed to be given. Dont play their games. They are trying to get you to incriminate yourself.

it's funny that you draw attention to your own b/day, but i write that off to youth. "you're old enough to vote and serve in the military,but not old enough to drink", as johnny said. earlier in '09, there were discussions about the u.s. bringing back the draft. probably b.s., and for your sake,i hope that it is b.s.it's wrong to be old enough to go to war, and still be too young to legally drink. it is what it is.have a good b/day, and i wish you many more.

Hahaha, thanks guys. I brought attention to it because I think turning 18 is a big deal, because it's the age where you can do alot more stuff. My mom mentioned yesterday I have to register for SS so I'll probably do that this weekend. I realized that I could go to "kitty kat club" places. (Not I probably will, but....).

@ Gary Allan/Onmo: Yup. When I got written a ticket for I think 2-3 over I kept my mouth shut. I should have probably disputed it but it didn't seem worth it. Well $350 later..... Oh well lol.
I hadn't thought about going to Canada to celebrate... Hmm. Well I'm going to live with my parents at least through the first 2 years of college (going to Local community college, LOT cheaper) and I doubt they would smile upon the idea. I can wish though.
