I thought I was pushing the limit on a 35$ replacement pump with 110k /8 yrs on it. So I replaced it. The predecessor was an OEM with 130 k on it It started leaking 10k after a TB. It is not driven by the TB, but you go by it on the way. I dont mind rolling the dice in this situation. But if it was driven by the TB, on an interference engine.......
My OE pump went at about 70k. I replaced it with a A1Cardone Severe duty reman. Its also had to have a A/C compressor and an alternator replaced.

I don't remember. I do know I always had leaky water pumps in my Chevy and in my Buick. I had them replaced every 30k miles and they'd leak within a week.
As far as I know, AC Delco is indeed the OEM part for GM cars. They make pretty poor Alternators (IMO)
another thought re GM cooling systems. Didnt they use Bars Leak in the factory fill? I thought I read that some where

GM used some "pellets" in the coolant in an effort to deal with leaking gaskets. Didn't work for my two GM cars.

Not at all surprising when you drive your domestic iron like Euro-Alloy. I see you finally found something more aligned with your driving habits.
30k is a belt service interval ..for a water pump?? That's incredible and I'd tend to suspect driver abuse ...'cept I can't even imagine that much abuse.
you all worry me... 23 yr/155 miles, all pumps original. Should I replace... Wouldn't the coolant pump give a hint before quiting?
Generally they will give signs, it is up to you to heed them.
The water pump on my wifes buick had to be replaced at around 120,000 miles. It too like everything on here fwd POS Buick 3800 is a pain it the arse to work on. I have never had to replace a water pump on a Toyota even on ones that my family owned for 17+ years.
