15w 40 - Mobil/Castrol

Hello,

The oil I need is a 15w 40 for my 4x4.

It runs the 4bd1 Isuzu 3.9L diesel and garrat turbo added. 1989 so it is a mechanical diesel no electronics in the vehicle.

Castrol RX Super 15w 40.
Mobil Delvac MX 15w 40.
Mobil Super Diesel 1000 15w 40.

Particularly interested in the MX delvac vs super diesel comparison as both have been recommended by Mobil.

What would be the best of the 3?

I HONSTLY don't think that engine cares - any of the three will run just like the other

I would drop Mobil Super and pick any one of the other two base on price and availability.

You didn't mention the OCI plan, but I'll assume it's "normal" with the OEM schedule.

In that light ... it won't matter at all. All three are good oils. There is no "best" oil, that you, or we, can define. There are many good oils. The VAST majority of lubes that are spec'd for an application do very well and there's no discernible difference in normal OCIs.

Just pick one and worry about something else.

Huh?

So you wouldn't use Super DIesel 1000 over the MX delvac? Any particular reason?

Don't plan to stuff around with sending samples in etc for OCI purposes. By the time I pay for all that, I could of just bought more oil. 10,000km and change.
