My skid-steer operator manual says to use 10W30 A.P.I. SE/CD or 20W50 A.P.I SE/CD oil for the hydraulic system (hydro-static motors/lift-tilt cylinders/auxiliary).
My question is: Can I use 15W40 A.P.I. CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4 Plus, CI-4, CH-4/SN oil as the hydraulic fluid?
During winter (NE KS) I can put a 200W magnetic heater on the 15 gallon hydraulic fluid tank if need be, the tank being part of the skid-steer frame/body.
The Final drive system also takes 10W30 A.P.I. SE/CD, but that is only 3.5 gallons.
I have plenty of (more affordable) 15W40 oil. That is what I use for all my engines, and currently as transmission/hydraulic fluid in my old Ferguson TO-35s'.
