150K(miles) Fusion Evaluation

Parts replaced on my 2007 Ford Fusion 2.3 4 cyl. VVT, 5 speed auto trans.
Water pump, engine coolant thermostat, front brake pads, spark plugs, drivers seat repair, A/C sensor, battery.

I do 10K OCIs with Mobil 1 0w20 Advanced Fuel Economy with MC cartridge oil filters. I also replace the transmission fluid about every 25K using Mobil 1 ATF, and have replaced to trans filter once. I also replace the air filter once a year, and turkey baster the PS pump fluid(Mobil 1 ATF) and turkey baster the master cyl fluid at every engine oil change.

Overall, the Fusion has been an outstanding car. No rattles or wind noise that I notice. Very reliable, runs well, handles well in town and on the highway. Engine is smooth and quite(no timing chain noise) and the trans shifts very well, up and down. My plans are to drive this car well over 200K. We have two long trips planed this spring and summer,(Florida and Maine) and have no worries about driving this car on long trips.

That is great to hear. No doubt, you maintain that Fusion very well. Just a testament of how well American cars can be and are built.

Sometimes I feel many don't keep American cars too long, to actually see how far they go, because of the stigma associated with them (i.e. unreliable, being cheaply made, ugly, etc.) which 9 out of 10 times is false.

How's about some shots of the 'ole Fusion when you head to Florida? I'm assuming your weather at the moment is cold and crummy as ours in WNY.

It will see 200k very easily under your care.

The 5 speed is an Aisin unit, right?

Sounds like the car is holding up very well, keep up the maintenance and 200k will come and be surpassed with ease.

No. It is the FNR5 made by Mazda.

Sounds like it's given you good service. I've had a couple of these as rentals over the years and always came away thinking they were solid.

I'd be curious to know:
1. Who did the work for the repairs
2. How much all those items cost

I know that #2 is related to #1 but if some of #1 was under warranty, it affects #2.

Fusion's have a good rep so keep it up on the original-year 2007 and keep us posted.

A/C sensor was the most expensive. $500 parts and labor. Next was the thermostat, $150 because it's hard to get to. I replaced the brakes, plugs, and water pump.

I've been impressed by the '06-'12 Fusions, and even tried to convince my wife to look at a '11 or '12 CPO last year. Unfortunately, she's a Japanese brand snob when it comes to vehicles, and has driven only Hondas for the past 21 years.

No. It is the FNR5 made by Mazda.
correct, the 6 speed with the V6 models is the Aisin. That is until 09ish when they started using that debacle known as the 6F35
