Nope, not if you're comparing versions with similar performance levels: The Maxlife that DOES meet the same specs as Magnatec, the full syn version of Maxlife, is more expensive than Magnatec.

You're right in taking a different approach to a newer engine than the older engines, as you indicated in your original post too. ... At 75,000 miles, you can switch to a "High Mileage" oil like Valvoline full synthetic with Maxlife Technology as they call it. For now, the engine is still kinda new, so my choice would be to go with the Castrol Magnatec 5w20 with a Fram Ultra oil filter for the most bang for the buck as I've said.
