My son has a 1993 Civic with 13 inch tires. I may be trading in my 2003 Civic Hybrid. I have a set of four 14 inch snow tires for it. Will these snow tires fit (and work safely) on my son's car?

Just like my corolla's, a 185 65 14 ,dunlop or pirelli, I have run both, snow tire on a 4x100 rim may be the best tire for that car. That size will fit.so will 175 65 14. I like 185 60 14's hankook regular tires too.
Do not run a 70 series tire on that car. Too tall.
My michelin 185 65 14 destiny's saved me in a blizzard last winter. 5 plus hour drive to go 120 miles ,but we made it and hundreds of cars and suv's were stuck. I do have a stick shift and what a blessing in snow. Best all season tire ever for a small car.

You will have to put one on to be sure, the diameter of the tires from the hybrid may be too large or just barely fit..

Thanks for everyone's help. My son came home last night from university so I will have him put one tire on to see if there is clearance.

We just tryed to install them. Right away we had difficulty with the clearance. They would bolt on but were rubbing. As someone else mentioned, they are just too wide for the '93 Civic.

"My '92 VX with the 13" aluminum alloys spec for 165/70/R13 stock."

I had a 1995 Civic up until 2003. The 13" factory rims were ideal to use with snow tires for winter driving. They will perform spectacularly and the tires will be very economical to buy. Save the 14", 15", etc... rims for summer/all-season tires. Just be sure to check the overall diameter when switching sizes using a site like this:

I'd imagine it would be easier to sell those hybrid wheels (they are HOT ITEMS due to light weight) and use the proceed to buy another set of civic rims or plain steel wheels (they are cheap).
