11,000 mile Fram FE10575 C&P

Lol you guys complaining of thin pleats from a wire backed filter? Open a StrataPore filter and you'll see thinner pleats with wire backing. At the every least Fleetguard is generous enough to pack it to the brim instead being anemic compared to FirstBrands.
Not complaining, just worried that FB found more corners to cut!

Oh that’s right. Thanks for clarifying. It’s somehow “molded” into the media, right?
I think it's bonded to the media surface, not really molded into the media. Per Motorking, Fram was at one time looking to do something similar to get rid if the metal wire backing, but instead they decided to get rid of backed media altogether after First Brands took over.

Found 3 old school XG’s for a buck/each - one was rattling so I cut it open and the spring was formed badly - these are similar to a 3600 so will use on my Kohler 5400 …

XtendedGuard, precursor to OG media Ultra and from where the current Ultra XG prefix derived. 'Rated' slightly less efficient 97% @20um, iirc) than Ultra. Mostly with the larger application filters, e.g.3400, occasionally an issue with the flat spring seen on Ultra. Likely because of element weight. Date codes were etched, many times hard to find/read. Personally, take an Extended Guard all day over the current Ultra.
