Well, after too many years of being on BITOG, this is my 1st UOA. Low mileage on this oil, but I am pleased. Comments are more than welcome since I really dont know all the ranges for the additives. Only additional info for this OCI is I had one HPDE (track day/driving school event) at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, MI. I'd say about 125-150 track miles of revving to 8500+ rpm (fuel cut is 8650 and I bounced the limiter about 3 times all day).

Looks like a real good report. You have one good engine there

seriously ..has anyone ever posted a bad report with this oil reguardless of how many miles were on it? ... I mean this report is fantastic! I remember Bob posting one from a ford escort with 9000 miles on the oil and it was still in good shape ...i mean come on ...an escort?!~

Schaeffer SL that was bought in May 2003. Thanks for the input guys. I have switched oils though...

I am on my 1st OCI with 5w30 SM Havoline. Seemed like the most durable dino oil around. I found it for 99 cents after rebate, so I picked up a case, and intend to stick with it. I have ran out of Schaeffer 10w30.

1.3 ppm of iron per 1000 miles? How can that be beat?

I have friends with very high mileage work trucks where the Schaeffer lab has them on 10,000 mile oil drain intervals. I know one guy with 485,000 miles on his p.o.s. Dodge caravan with this oil. I can't find an oil to beat it.

Aaron, why the short drain interval? Next time, get your money's worth out of the oil.

Hey BrewCityR, glad you had great luck with this stuff!

Your wear patterns look like less than half of Blackstone's universal averages for this engine ... and you raced it.

Report shows some shearing ... but that looks like a lab error. I've seen even their 5W-30 go 5,000 miles with no shearing.

I bet you'll have good luck with that Havoline, too. Just keep the interval below 4,000 miles.

It's true I could have very well gone to 5000 miles but since I never have done a UOA on this engine, I was curious. The car has 59,000 miles now with about 8-9 track days and 7-8 autocrosses, so it's been revved and revved, but cared for with frequent oil changes.

Bror, yeah, my plan with Havoline is 4000 mile OCIs without any track usage and maybe 2500 if I do an event.

Have you posted these results on Honda-Tech.com?

I think your results using Havoline with those intervals will be fine.

Check the VOA section of this forum for Butler Labs posting of over 100 virgin oil analyses to see how it stacks up to other oils in mere elemental analysis.

I have not, and very few really care about UOAs. That's fine. I come here for oil fact/fiction/etc. I go to H-T to browse the classifieds and to keep in touch with local Honda friends and Integra Type R friends around the country. ITR Expo is coming in 2 weeks (road trip to Omaha, NE and 2 day HPDE), so I will do a UOA with Havoline after that.
