10W30 oil for Dodge Magnum SXT?

Well, I posed the same question on the LX Forum to get a Chrysler guru perspective. The answer was that the 3.5 is an older design and that's why it says 10W30. 0W30 synthetic would be perfectly fine. And doing further research, MS-6395 is an old Chrysler spec that Mobil 1 likely exceeds, but they just never bothered to apply for certification with Chrysler.

Anyway, I found gallon jugs of Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W30 on sale at a great price and got enough to change the oil on my Magnum and Camaro before the winter.

I've always used Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec 0W30 in my Camaro, which I now only drive occasionally in the summer. From my knowledge of how oil viscosity works, 0W30 is the same as 10W30 at working temperature, just doesn't get as thick at freezing. One advantage it has is its viscosity index, which keeps it from getting as thin as 10W30 when overheating. So why could I not use that?
the vi used as a way to choose an oil is misleading.

Well, I've used Mobil 1 0W30 oil since I've had the car for 5 years. I had to add a quart between oil changes the first time, but none since then. I use the same oil in my '85 Camaro.
