'07 F350 6.0 Powerstroke, for as long as I own this truck its the only grade of lube I'll use. I have quite a few of my UOA's over in the HDEO section.

T5 10W-30 ---> 01 7.3L PSD

The 7.3L really reacts well to the 10W-30 compared to the very thick 15W-40... Cold Weather start-ups are amazing and Throttle Response is improved as well.

My timing gear cover gasket drip is a bit worse with the 10W-30 compared to the 15W-40 but an extra drip or two is worth it.

The T5 handles the stress of towing the 32FT 10Klb 5TH Wheel very well during the summer months. UOA have proven that. No Worries!

$16 a gallon is very reasonable.

I run 10w-30 Rotella T3 (dino) in the following:

2006 Dmax Chev truck (1 year OCI) (outstanding UOAs, especially given the purposeful abuse I heaped out)
2004 Kubota L3430GST (2 year OCI)
2006 Honda GL1800 Goldwing (1 year OCI)
1966 Mustang 4.7L (289 gasser v-8) (3 year low-mileage OCI)
2002 Scag ZRT (air cooled Kawasaki 19hp gasser v-twin) (2 year OCI)
1978 Honda CT-70 (1 year OCI)

Are you really moving from 5w-30 to the 10w-30 in the honda accord because of the age (mileage) on this engine or do you now believe the 10w-30 would be best to use right after the FF oil change (or even the FF could be 10w-30 with equal overall break-in period results compared to the 5w-30)?

Sometimes it get's so friendly here that you assume everybody has read all of everybody else's posts. There's a "Rest of the Story" to my oil choice.

Note that I am running 10W30 in EVERYTHING. That was my goal. Because I have so many vehicles to maintain, I went looking for a mixed fleet oil that I could using in EVERYTHING here on the farm. I researched all the engines and the OEM recommendations for everything I have to maintain, analyzed the operating cycles of the equipment (cold starts, seasonal use, etc), made some experiments (mainly involving VVT in the Ford Modular V8) and concluded a 10W30 mixed-fleet HDEO (in this case 10W30 TR T5 was chosen) could be safely used in everything here, gas or diesel. In some cases, it moved the efficacy a bit off the "optimal" mark, in some cases in moved it closer to that mark, but in all cases it's safe. The small compromises cost a little fuel economy in a couple of cases going thicker but in other parts of the fleet, I probably gained something back by going thinner, so the net result across the "fleet" was probably neutral. I'm in the process of using up the previously stashed oil but have stocked up on T5. It's be a couple more years in the Honda's case before it gets onto the T5 because I have a couple of cases of 5W30 left. We bought the car new in 2000... the car only has 85K on it!
