10w30 & 5w30 - is there really that much diff?

Given that the 5w30 and 10w30 are both 30w at full temp and the 5w30 is thinner than the 10w30 at all colder temps, what would be the advatage of running 10w30? Seems like 5w30 would be hands down better.

In Chicago or Buffalo yes, but in Phoenix or San Antonio no. 10w-30 is a little less volatile.

That's what I've been saying for a long time now. IMO, 10w30 is obsolete, since 5w30 can do everything 10w30 can do on the hot end, with the added benefit of flowing better on startup too.
