10w-30 Supertech synthetic and Amsoil Blend?

I'd like to do a 50/50 blend of 10w30 Supertech synthetic and 10w30 Amsoil in my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. I plan on changing the oil every 5,000 miles- with this OCI using 100% Amsoil doesn't seem very cost-effective, but I'd like to get the best of both worlds by doing a 50/50 blend with a cheaper synthetic. I'm not blending it as a science, just doing it to save a little money

I got a better recipe. Mix 50/50 Motorcraft 5W-20 with Delo 15w40.

Seems like a lot of trouble to me without too much benefit. A good oil like Havoline or Mobil 5000 should go 5,000 miles easily without blending anything.

If you want to use synthetic, Pennzoil and Castrol are frequently on sale and with rebates for less than $4/qt. Those oils should be fine to 7,500 easily.

If you're bent on SuperTech, just suppliment it with some VSOT or MaxLife additives.

For 5K OCI's I would go with plan A, Havoline or Mobil.

I say go for it. I have run several Amsoil blends with no issues. That blend could take you out to 7500 miles. Either way a used oil analysis would be interesting.

The abundant levels of magnesium, calcium & ZDDP in the Amsoil ATM 10w30 add pack will certainly provide a boost to the performance of the SuperTech 10w30 synthetic oil.

Dump the blend stuff and us their Series 3K and be happy.

Then blend it with 49 cent Chevron or Shell at Kragen.
