my friends 94 integra has 270k and does not consume any oil. he uses castrol gtx 10w30
All engines consume oil, whether you can notice it in a typically short OCI is something else. A lot depends on how the engine is driven; lots of high rev's usually increases oil consumption.
Anyway 5,000mi/gt is perfectly fine and no remedy is required.
Having said that, a 5w30 synthetic will have less oil burn off than an antiquated 10w30 conventional.
Any 5w30 syn' on sale is what I'd suggest.
