1000 mile boots?

I have been using an old pair (nicely polished) of Doc Martin air walks for dress shoes for many years now. Despite the dated style, they have served well and handle summer and winter, urban and not-so-urban settings equally well. But I'm been receiving more and more comments about them so I'm looking for a replacement in the future. Function is always first on my list, but since these will be dedicated for dress and formal occasions, fashion must be accommodated to a reasonable extent.

I've seen some talk about the Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot and it looks like it could possibly serve this role. Specifically either the basic 1000 mile boot in black or possibly the wingtip boot or chukka.

I would like to open the discussion to both the topics of whether these are appropriate for fashion as well as topics related to the boot/shoe itself. Also, has anybody seen these in stock in an actual store? Sure would be nice to try them on before ordering.

I have a pair of the Wolverine 1000 Mile Rockfords. I prefer the toe cap design, as I use them when I dress up and they take polish well. They have broken in nicely and I think they'll last many years.

Amazon had free shipping and returns, so just try them on a carpeted surface and send them back if you're not pleased. I had to exchange them for a smaller size; I ended up with a full size smaller than I wear in Danner boots.

When you get them and decide that you've got the right size, apply leather conditioner to the entire boot, including the leather sole. They'll last much longer. I like Leather Honey for conditioning and Meltonian cream polish if you need to touch them up. I have both neutral and brown Meltonian polish. Neutral to add a bit of shine, and brown to touch up scuffs.

I have 1000 mile boots. Bought from a forum member in fact. Very comfortable, like them a lot. Red wing has a very similar shoe, and can be tried at any red wing dealer (we have one just a few miles from here).

Back in July I purchased the Wolverine 1,000 Mile Kiltie Lacer Work Boot from Nordstrom Rack. They're very comfortable and the soles have yet to slip on anything tho they haven't seen a winter yet. Purchasing "office" appearing shoes anywhere and pretty much despite good brand names results in worn out shoes in less than six months for me. I've upped the ante with sturdier boots in hopes of reducing my shoe replacement interval. Appearance wise they look great particularly since office casual is more and more casual every year it seems. They sure look better than dirty white sneakers that some slobs wear in an office environment.

I will only wear these boots in the office to keep their appearance nice. I have other boots for outdoor work.
