10,000 steps per day

Steps for me are just a bonus to your regular daily workouts. Some steps have different meaning 10,000 stair climb or 10,000 flat walk huge difference.
Even 10,000 flat steps a day is a pretty impressive accomplishment. For most people it’s at least 90 minutes of walking! You can’t dismiss that achievement. Even if that’s their only means of exercise every day that’s going to keep them very healthy. My girlfriend’s dad gets over 10,000 steps a day and he is 77 years old!

I used to go 10k steps everyday (except Sunday). It took about 1.5 hours. However, I had to tone it down to 6500-7500 steps due to knee and foot pain. When I mow the grass twice a week, I can add another 5500 steps to my regiment. I have to admit, I am hurting at the end of those days.

I shoot for 7500 - 10000 steps per day. I have a garmin watch to track. I was doing that (walks almost every night, 2.5 - 3.5 miles, at an 17:30-18:30 pace. Seems slow, but it's actually pretty brisk.) That, in combination with weight watchers and counting calories, dropped me 60 lbs since last May. 8 months. Went from 233 to 172.

I'm at 179 right now....Holidays. Getting back on it Monday. Want to get to 165 and mintain from there.

Yesterday, 2 JAN 2026 in SE Asia I walked 13 miles in a very urban environment. I walked to the barber shop 6.5 miles away, and 6.5 miles to return to the hotel.

Found the walk very enjoyable, and hopefully it will counter some jet lag. I don't walk like this often, and my leg muscles today and reminding me of yesterday's walk.

Now this is ridiculous. I walked from the bed to the bathroom and back with my phone and it only recorded one step! It’s at least 20.
