1/2 qt low !!!

So I finally changed my oil in the parking lot across this deserted warehouse with that 5.5 jug of Valvoline 5w30 and a Mopar filter. Now I'm 1/2 a qt low in the Jeep, so I was thinking, should I add 1/2 a qt of:

Castrol 15w50 (Synth)
Mobil clean 5w30 conventional
MMO
or
1/2 a qt of Mobil 1 Franken-mix: (0-40 + 5-30 + 10-30 + etc.).
Almost done guys, almost done with this blasted OCI!

Out of the choices you put up, I would also go with the Mobil clean 5w30

Just our of curiosity, why not get a quart of Valvoline? That way you would have some top-off if needed.

Now there's something to get anxious over. Leave it there and debate what to put in when you can add a full one. Odds say you'll be scheduled for another change before it occurs.

doesn't matter, any of the above, or any 1/2 qt of the frankenmix.
probably would use the franken-mix.

A dipstick is a simple mechanical gauge. Commonly these simple gauges are most accurate mid scale, in this case approx. 1/2 way between max-min is the proper level with the most accuracy. Below min level is low but how low? Same with max level. Shape of pan and slope of stick make it less accurate above/below "scale" area. I submit the proper level is anything in the hashed area, mid scale if you want some certainity.

One sec... how funny is it that you mention the dipstick, all out of the blue and everything.

I checked my oil today. Twice actually, right before I went on a hundred mile drive; Its super full! It read above the hash mark twice! I freakin drained the oil for over an hour (no exaggeration), and filled it up with the 5.5 qts. of Valvoline 5-30, since it went into the Jeep's 4 liter engine, which takes 6 qts. of oil, I automatically assumed I was a 1/2 a qt. low.

Well not only am I not 1/2 a qt. low; I may have too much in their now. question is, how the heck is that possible.

By the way - is it just Mobil 1 / all synthetic. marketing that makes it appear the Engine just ran faster with synthetic in? I think its all a mind game. Thankfully, the Jeep appears to love the Valvoline, I on the other hand though... I don't know, It appears the 'voom voom' of the engine has decreased a little bit, but once again, I think that just may be all they synthetic hype surrounding synthetics. Its just been a day, so we'll see.

i use syn but it is overrated ..best qualities are in xtreme cold or heat...and keeping engine sludge free

It happens from time to time in my wife's 4.0. Depends on how long it was run and how soon I check it.

Ok, I'll just relax and wait out this run, & then throw some type of synthetic in to make it all go away. Boy I tell you though, that 2 day old oil is dark already.

I don't think Valvoline makes the 5.5 quart jug anymore.

Wal-Mart had them. They are still around here and there in Maxlife, Conventional and Synpower.

All at the same price as 5qt.

I picked up my 5.5 qt. jug at Advanced Auto Parts. came with an STP filter too. That's why I returned the Pennzoil conventional and bought the Valveoline and STP filter package instead, I was mad overdue on my OCI.
