Is that about right? I need to do the oil in my jeep 4.0 It takes 6 quarts to fill. I have 4 quarts of 5-30, 1 quart of 5-20 and 1 Qt of 10-40. going to the store for 2 more quarts of 5-30 is not possible. Also how much LESS oil will it take to fill the 4.0 if I leave the old oil filter on? ( as I do not have a new filter right now and like I said going to the store not possible, and the filter is a mobil 1 with about 4500 miles on it).

I'd put in 5.5 quarts and see where that gets you. without filter. The good thing is, it's a Jeep 4.0, so it will probably leak out any excess rather quickly. Unless we know the CST values of each oil, it's hard to guess on a blend. And even then, to know for sure, it would have to be actually tested to know. With that said , I don't think your random blend of 5w-30/ 5w-20 /10w-40 is going to hurt a Jeep 4.0. I've run everything from 5w-20 , 10w-30 to 5w-40 in mine without issue.

I know someone had posted a link to a thing that would give you a cST of mixing different oils, but without knowing the exact cST of the oils your using, no way to tell for sure. Regardless, for the 4.0, it would be fine. I know the FL1A size filter is almost a qt, I would add 5 qts and go from there.

That depends considerably on whether you empty the filter and put it back, or just leave it alone. It also depends on the condition of the anti-drainback valve.

My '98 XJ 4.0 in my sig takes 6 quarts with the PH8A sized filter, roughly 5 when I don't change the filter (which is 2 out of 3 times because I run a Fram Ultra XG8A).

That is not an answer. That is my question. Does a ph16 mobil 1 filter hold 1 quart?

And as Shannow points out, a mixture with no certifications.
