I agree the Ecoboost Magnatec UOA's were impressive but they were the 5w30 syn blend IIRC, not the 5w20. All the more impressive that the results were with a blend.
My apologies, yes it was 5W30 Magnatec Blend. But to be honest, we've mostly been running Conventional GF5/SN in our Hyundai turbo, all be it for only 3500 mile oci due to severe (short trips and heavy traffic) driving conditions, and the vehicle has been flawless. It takes my wife 4-6 months to reach the interval and our manual recommends ILSAC GF4/API SM. 2016 models recommend ACEA but Hyundai has advised no need to back spec since maximum interval allowed is 5000.
If driving an EcoBoost, I would have qualms using Castrol Magnatec.
