Mobil 1 0W-40 is on the 'thin' side of the SAE40 grade, while GC 0W30 is very 'thick' SAE30 oil which is very close to the SAE40 spec.
It shouldn't pose a problem in your engine whatsoever and should deliver below-average wear. Another good choice is German Castrol Syntec 0w30 which is commonly available in l'États-Unis and Canada.
I have an 88 IROC with the LB9 engine. I've been running Mobil 1 5w30 in it for ages. I'll stick with that for the winter months, but coming this summer, I'll start using the Mobil 1 Truck/SUV stuff during the warm weather months.
