0w-30 instead of 5w-30?

Any harm in using 0w30 instead of the recommended 5w30? I assume 0w30 will be better for start up lubrication?

Why don't car makers recommend the 0w from the factory instead of the 5w?

0w-30 drives to a synthetic requirement for oil. Many manufacturers do not want to go there, and the users who actually NEED a 0w30 generally know it, and will use it anyway.

They have a hard enough time getting the general public to use 5W.

I see no harm in using a 0W.

because 0w30 are synthetic only, hard to find, and most people won't benefit from the cold temp properties.

The ones that recommend synthetic from the factory such as in the case of the Corvette, Acura RDX, etc...
