0w-30 instead of 5w-30?

Any harm in using 0w30 instead of the recommended 5w30? I assume 0w30 will be better for start up lubrication?

Why don't car makers recommend the 0w from the factory instead of the 5w?

because 0w30 are synthetic only, hard to find, and most people won't benefit from the cold temp properties.

The ones that recommend synthetic from the factory such as in the case of the Corvette, Acura RDX, etc...
