0w-20 vs 0w-30

In my Nissan, I use 0w-30. In my Mazda it recomends 0w-20.

Is it okay if I use one or the other in the cars? I want to buy Amsoil in bulk so it would be easier if I just ordered an oil of one weight.

I am pretty sure this has been asked but the search engine would not let me search "0w-20 0w-30"

How is it harder to order two different weights at the same time?

Step 1. Log on to Amsoil's website.
Step 2. Check the boxes for 0W20 and 0W30 in the quantity you want. (O.K. - this is the step that is the hardest since you have to click on two seperate boxes instead of just one.)
Step 3. Enter CC information and delivery address.
Step 4. Wait for big brown truck to pull up the driveway.

Use the viscosity recommended for each vehicle.

Is it okay to use the 30 in the 20? Sure. You might as well just order 10W30; that'll be even easier to buy in bulk so you'll have oil for your lawn mower and things.

I wanted to buy by the gallon because it is cheaper. And per my vehicles.

4.25 QT 0w-30
5.00 QT 0w-30
6.00 QT 0w-20

It is easier just to order a bunch of one. See what I mean?

yeah it goes into a tizzy with words less than 3 letters. Also, to complicate matters the "-" has a special meaning in the search.

Try typing this (with the doubles quotes) in your favorite search engine(yahoo, google,...)

You're screwed. This is harder than physics! Especially since you threw in a third vehicle to the equation.

4qts. = 1 gal.

4.25qts. 0W30 means buying 2 gallons w/ 3.75qts. left over.
5qts. 0W30 means buying 2 gallons w/ 3qts. left over.
6qts. 0W20 means buying 2 gallons w/ 2qts. left over.

Hhhmmm, what to do?

I guess that the easiest thing would be to order 1 case/4 gallons (That's 16qts. - you need 15.25qts. total for all three vehicles) of the "thinnist" 0W30 you can find, live happy knowing that the vehicle that specs the 20 will be (in all likelihood) just fine, and use the remaining .75qt. for top-off or the mower.

Dare I say it, but in FL, 0w30 would work fine in all your cars. I'm not exactly telling you to go outside the mfr's recommendation, but it would work fine.

I use 0w30 in my vehicles speced for 5w-20. Most these speced 5w-20 engines used to be 5w30, so go figure.......

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there is no Mazda recommendation for 0W-20...

I doubt running a 0w30 Full Synthetic would be at all a problem and that's what I'd do...

I'm willing to bet there are a lot of Mazda dealerships that could care less what the manufacturer recommends...
